Why Proper Form Is the Key to Your Safety and Success

We’re honored to host another guest post from one of our awesome Fit Body Family members—Ryan Perez! Ryan talks about the importance of working out with the right form, including the dangers of bad form and the benefits of good form.

In the world of fitness, exercise form is among the most discussed topics you’ll find. For some, great form comes naturally, but to many, it takes practice, repetition and the mindset to never give up because you’ll eventually get it.

Form is so important for both injury prevention and our fitness journey progression, but the only time it’s usually brought up is when others give unsolicited advice. Why don’t we break the mold and dive into why form is crucial for fitness success!

How to Find the Right Workout Accountability Partner(s)

Be honest: what does it feel like to work out alone?

For a few people, they enjoy working out at their own pace, doing the workouts THEY want to do. More often than not, these people usually have years of experience in the gym and know what they’re doing.

For the rest of the crowd, the gym can be confusing and intimidating. There are machines that look like robots, medicine balls you have no idea how to use, and, oh man—where do you even start working out?

Now, think back to a time when you did something new, something uncomfortable…with a friend. I’m sure you felt more confident than you would have been going at it alone.

Fitness is the same exact way. Well actually, life is the same way. No one gets far without others.

I want to get to the benefits of having an accountability partner when working out, something you may have never even considered. But first, why do people insist on being lone wolves when it comes to getting fit?

Recipes: Tasty Cheese Meals

Don’t you just love cheese?

I mean, you can melt it into a delicious filler for a sandwich or burger. You can also throw it onto crackers or with veggies to add some sharpness to a snack. With a wide range of cheeses to choose from, the flavors you can come up with are nearly endless.

The only drawback to cheese is that it piles on excessive fat and calories. Anyone that’s dieted before knows that those those are two absolute diet killers.

I’ve got great news for you: there are plenty of meals that are cheesy and healthy! It’s not a culinary sin to indulge in cheese; you just have to do it the right way.

Today, we’re going to dive into a few cheese recipes that might just flip your world upside down. Hope we make your life a little “cheddar” (that was about as cheesy as these meals)!

Fit Body’s Fitness & Health FAQ (Part 1)

“I really want to work out, but…”

[Fill in the blank]

I’m sure you’ve heard that phrase from someone you know. Maybe it was that co-worker who made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, but has only been to the gym three times all year. It could be your spouse that’s had the same fitness goals for years, yet has done little to get in shape.

Truth is, most people are woefully under-resourced and uninformed when they first start their journey to getting fit. They poke around the Internet, scour for whatever fitness tips and advice they can find, then hit the gym and try what they found online.

Not surprisingly, this rarely works; most people work out too little or too much, choose the wrong workouts, and have no accountability to keep them exercising for the long haul. If someone has an upset stomach, he or she doesn’t just run to the drug store, file into the antacid aisle, and pick the bottle that looks the prettiest.

Of course, there’s a dead-end for the uninformed gym-aspirer. These non-equipped workout hopefuls end up getting none of their goals accomplished because they don’t have the information they need to start.

BUT that’s why we here at Fit Body are here to help! This blog will go through a few of those common questions new fitness-goers have when it comes to working out. Hopefully we’ll bring you the answers you need to jump straight into a healthier lifestyle!

The Power of Visualization

Today’s guest post is from Stephanie Pinto, owner of Orangeburg Fit Body Boot Camp in Orangeburg, New York. She is going to discuss visualization, how you can bring your dreams into focus, and why believing in those dreams is essential for success.

When I was an elementary school teacher, one of my favorite reading lessons to teach was on the topic of visualization. It was an important lesson for the students to learn; it was so much fun watching them close their eyes, listen intently to a descriptive reading passage, and then discuss and illustrate what they “saw” in their mind’s eye.

Think about that…one’s ability to imagine pictures from written words is what creates a sense of reality out of those words. A student’s prior knowledge (or lack thereof) will also determine the meanings that they create for these words.

Wow….powerful right?

And that leads me to what I want to talk to you about today…the power of visualization!

When Should You Step Up the Intensity of Your Workouts?

A friend of yours starts going to the gym for a few weeks. She starts complaining that she’s not seeing results, despite spending most of her afterhours working out.

So you decide to tag along for one of her evening workouts. Once you watch her workout, her problem is crystal clear.

She isn’t pushing herself hard enough.

She swings from machine to machine, lazily going through the motions. By the end of her hour-long routine, she’s barely broken a sweat.

Working out is less about how long you work out for and more about the effort and exercises you do during that time. A lot of people trick themselves into believing that just because they go to the gym, they’re getting in shape at a rapid pace.

Don’t you want to get the most out of your workouts? Isn’t your goal to get fit without spending hours and hours on the elliptical?

If so, you should check out a Fit Body Boot Camp location near you, since our 30-minute Afterburn workouts promise to maximize your results in a short timespan. In the meantime, here are a few signs that it’s time to ratchet up the intensity of your workout routine.

8 Global Dieting Tips That You Can Try Today

Let’s talk about Jennifer.

Jennifer is in her mid-thirties and has three kids. She’s super frustrated with her body shape and wants to slim down. Let’s say she finally reaches her breaking point and decides to make positive, healthy changes in her life.

She’s pumped. Her excitement translates to the gym, where she works out 5 times a week. She’s on the fast track to big-time weight loss when….

…. she gets hit with a wrecking ball of anxiety.

She doesn’t know how to diet properly.

See, someone once told Jennifer that being healthy is like driving a car. Your motivation is what twists the key in the ignition and exercise is the turbo-charged engine that motors the car down the highway.

But no car can drive without gas. That’s exactly what a good diet provides: energy to power you through the day.

Jennifer is nervous because she doesn’t know how to transform her diet for the better. She listens to dieting podcasts and reads health blogs, but gets even more stressed because she doesn’t know which tips actually work.

Believe it or not, countries around the world do dieting differently. It’s awesome to know health is a universal goal, but different regions use their cultures and perspectives in unique ways to stay healthy.

So, why don’t we help out our friend Jennifer and learn how we can improve our own diets from our neighbors across the globe? Here are 8 tips you (and Jennifer) might find helpful!
