How to Become a Grocery Guru

You know what one of the best feelings in the world is?

Getting EXACTLY what you need.

There are times when our needs are glaringly obvious. Maybe a family’s only car broke down, so they need to purchase another one (and quick!). Or, you’ve probably encountered a time when you’ve been ready to fill out a friend’s birthday card only to realize that you don’t have a pen to write with.

Now when we talk about grocery shopping, that’s a whole ‘nother story…

We need food to live. That’s obvious. But when you stroll through the aisles of the market, your eyes are drawn to those snacks, drinks, and ice creams you WANT but know you don’t NEED. Plus, these extras add unnecessary expenses to your end receipt.

Listen here: we’ve got a few hacks to help you feel like the heavyweight champion of…the supermarket!

Sound glorious enough? If so, check out our tips on how to conquer grocery shopping, especially when you’re on a budget.

Make Your List the Night Before

Why leave yourself vulnerable to your own instincts and impulses?

Grocery lists sound like something everyone would do, but you’d be surprised at how many people walk into the market with no list and a vague idea of what they want.

You, my friend—YOU—are not one of those people!

Make that list as specific as you can make it—down to the very ingredient.

Still confused on what you should get? That’s an easy fix! Just follow these steps:

  1. Figure out your diet. Are you going low-carb? Do you need more fiber in your diet?
  2. Think of foods you can eat that will keep you on pace with your diet. If you’re stuck, just search online! The Internet holds a vast sea of healthy recipes for you to check out.
  3. Choose a recipe for each day of the week you plan on cooking. Write out the ingredients you’ll need. If there are ingredients that are hard to find, make sure you either can find them or replace them with something else.

Kapeesh? You’re well on your way to grocery guru status!

Find Those Coupons!

Now it’s time to cut down on those costs…

Coupon hunting might get a bad rap, but it’s one of the easiest ways to get what you need without strecthing your budget!

Make sure you subscribe to your local market’s mailing list. That way, you’ll get coupons sent straight to your front door! You can also scan the web for coupons, and you might even find some juicy deals on your favorite market’s website!

Become a Rewards Member

What if there was another way to save money at the market besides printing coupons?

There is, and it’s becoming more and more popular nowadays…

Most grocery stores have a rewards program where you can score on some appealing offers. It’s time for you to get in on that!

Many of these deals require you to buy more than one of a given item to redeem a deal for it. Sounds expensive, right?

Here’s why it’s worth it.

As long as a good is non-perishable, you can always ration it out over the span of a few weeks. If you mainly purchase healthy items, that’s an even bigger bonus because your house will be stocked with nutritious options, making you less likely to cave into your cravings and ruin your diet!
